Nexus 7: Top 5 Tips and Tricks You Need to Know

The new Nexus 7, with its great set of specs, continues to be the most responsive and easy-to-use tablet on the market. 1. Change the Keyboard Click Volume
The new Nexus 7 has two loud, rear-facing stereo speakers to generate a great deal of volume that will greatly enhance your experience when you’re watching a movie or listening to music. But what if you’re typing? Since the Nexus 7 lacks a vibration motor, so whenever you press a key, the loud noise of on-screen clicking will grind your gears. To have a quieter typing experience,
Keep pressing the microphone icon until the settings button appears.

• Tap Google Keyboard Settings.
• Scroll down to select Advanced Settings.
• In Advanced Settings Menu, tap Keypress Sound Volume and adjust the slider to set the level of volume that you prefer.

Now you’re done. To turn off keyboard sounds, just uncheck Sound on key press option under “Google Keyboard Settings”.

2. Use Gesture Typing

This amazing feature allows you to type by just gliding your finger across the keyboard rather than typing the letters individually. Here’s how to use gesture typing,

• Open the location where you want to type into.
• Slide your finger across the letters of the word you want to have.
• Nexus 7 will then try to predict the word you’re typing. Release your finger when the desired word appears in the floating preview or tap on any alternative word in the suggestion strip to choose it instead.
• In case the word doesn’t appear while using Gesture Typing, you can type it manually.

Keep in mind that the Gesture Typing is set to use without the space bar, just lift your finger when you’re done and then type the next word.

3. Stay Secure with Face Unlock

You can unlock your Google Nexus 7 using your face rather inserting a PIN number, Password or Pattern. Though Face Unlock isn’t a very secure method, it’s convenient and fun to use. Here’s how to set up Face Unlock,

• Go to this path: Settings > Personal > Security > Screen lock > Face Unlock
• Tap Set it up and then click Continue.
• Set Nexus 7 to fit your face inside the template on the screen and it will ask what you want to do.
• Choose either Pattern or Pin and enter your security number
• Click Next and then confirm your Pattern or Pin to activate the Face Unlock.

4. Take a Screenshot on Your Tablet
Taking screenshot on your Nexus 7 tablet isn’t difficult at all; you no longer need to install Android SDK or root your device for this purpose.

• When the image you want to capture is displayed on the screen, hold the Volume down and Power buttons at the same time

And you’re done.
Both the Volume down and Power buttons are on the right side of the device when it’s held vertically. Once the screenshot is taken successfully, you’ll be confirmed by a sound feedback and the screen shot is automatically saved in the Gallery app.

5. Get More with Google Now

To activate Google Now,

• Hold any of the bottom menu buttons and then swipe up towards the Google icon on the Home screen.

However if you don’t want these cards to be displayed, just turn off Google Now that will return any card settings to their initial settings.
